Party People

I just found this picture of Owen and me at Chloe's fifth birthday party last May. Owen had just gotten a really good haircut and I thought he looked handsome. This picture also should have prompted me to reconsider my hairstyle (or lackthereof), but I've still done nothing about it.

Plum Lake

This summer we spent a weekend at Plum Lake with our friends Brennan, Brad and Chloe. Owen and Chloe enjoyed the boat ride and Olive loved the easy access to the water. It was heavenly. It would be wonderful to have a place like that to escape to whenever we wanted to, but we're grateful for the time we get to spend there with BB&C.

Meredith Grace

Meredith Grace was born in Atlanta in December. I cried when I got the phone call. She is Owen's cousin, and my brother is one proud papa.

Puppy Love, Chapter 2

Tonight Owen told me that he hoped his baby sister looked like Coach Susan.

Three Amigos

Alex and Duncan are brothers and friends of Owen. Things get a little wild when the three of them are together, but things can get a little wild even when they're apart.

Meet Kate, another new friend of Owen.

Dislikes: hyperbole, second-hand shoes, too-small onesies

Owen's newest relative

Meet Mason, Owen's new cousin. Mason lives in California, so we haven't met him yet. We think he looks more like his dad than his mom, but we want to see him in person before we draw any conclusions. Alas, we probably won't have any face-to-face time with the little guy until July.

Owen's newest friend

Meet Claire, Owen's newest friend. He is quite enamored of her. When he saw her picture on the computer, he sniffed and said he wished he could see her every day. He also has decided his baby sister should be named Claire (which is a million times better than Back, his previous choice), which we won't be doing for obvious reasons.

Claire has a big brother named Danny. I'll get a picture of him up soon.

Puppy Love

I think Owen has a crush on Coach Susan. She's the instructor for his multi-sport class on Wednesday nights. Last night he refused to follow directions and did anything in his power to get her attention. I was embarrassed, but the other parents seemed to find his antics more amusing than annoying. I suppose it doesn't have to be a crush. Maybe he's just badly behaved. I'm not sure which is worse.

Icy Cold Water

A couple weeks ago Matt, Owen and Olive walked onto the lake--it's frozen now after several weeks of sub-zero temperatures. Owen keeps talking about walking on the icy cold water. Matt took several pictures, including a few of the shore. You can see our house if you know to look for it. It looks a lot more serene and inviting from that vantage point than from the one I'm used to.

Super Owen

After lunch Owen needed to change his shirt. Matt asked him what he wanted to wear, and he selected his cape and mask. Good choice.
